Weather review

I was watching Cape News this morning. I think Cape has the dullest weather forecast I have ever in my life seen. No wonder people are calling in about it all the time.

Let's have an obese tax

I just read the AP story out of Jefferson City about backers of a cigarette tax hike, collecting signatures for the 2016 ballot. What these do-gooders have in mind is to increase the cigarette tax by 23 percent, in other words a $4 pack of cigarettes would go up to $5 approximately if they get enough signatures to put this on next year's ballot. My question and many other people's questions for these do-gooders is why don't you pick on somebody else. You are always picking on smokers or beverage drinkers. Why not pick on the obese for a change? Fifty-percent of people in this country have obesity. Fifty-percent of America is recorded as obese. Nowhere have I read that 50 percent of this country has problems related to cigarettes. Why don't we start putting a 23 percent tax on fat burgers, cheeseburgers, hamburgers, bacon burgers, huge syrupy sugary drinks? Let's put a 23 percent tax on french fries. Let's put a 23 percent tax on anything that causes obesity. I'm sure the do-gooders that want to attack us smokers don't want to attack these powers that be of these fattening foods. I will be watching carefully to see how these signatures go on getting this increase on the 2016 ballot.
