Years ago, a nine-year-old boy, whose mother died in November, arrived at the George B. Taylor Orphanage in Rome, Italy, shortly after Christmas. One of his first assignments in school was a composition on "My Favorite Toy." When asked what he wrote, the boy replied, "I didn't know what to write. I've never had a toy!" Then to the question, "What did you get for Christmas?" he replied, "A piece of bread." This Roman orphanage is a long way from prosperous America. Perhaps affluent people may never fully understand the meaning of the petition in Matthew 6:11, "Give us this day our daily bread."
