New heating unit

Friday, January 15, 2016

A new, 1,200-pound heating unit was installed by Jack O'Guin of Sikeston Thursday on the roof of the Scott County Courthouse in Benton. Scott County First District Commissioner Dennis Ziegenhorn expressed gratitude to Judge David Dolan for moving his Thursday law day from the courthouse and across the street to the Judicial Building as Judge Scott Horman's court was not in session. He also thanked Circuit Court Clerk Christy Hency for coordinating the effort with the judges. The 11-year-old heating unit went out Monday. AC James Excavating of Sikeston also assisted by lifting the unit to the top of the courthouse building. The courthouse roof is comprised of four sections, and the county re-roofs one part at a time based on a schedule. This summer work will be done on the roof containing the heating unit, Ziegenhorn said.
