Sikeston elementary counselor wins video contest

SIKESTON -- A Sikeston R-6 elementary school counselor earned recognition after her school created a video about her.

Olivia Carter, counselor at Matthews Elementary School in Sikeston, received the Southeast Missouri School Counselor Association's National School Counselors Week Video Contest Award during the organization's March 9 spring meeting in Cape Girardeau.

To celebrate National School Counselors Week, students and staff created a 1-minute, 16-second video which shows several students thanking Carter for her help in making their school a safe and happy place.
