Sikeston man killed while walking on highway

DEXTER, Mo. - A Sikeston man was killed when he was struck by a car early Saturday.

Jason B. McCollom, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident on Highway 60, three miles east of Dexter.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported McCollom was walking in the driving lane at approximately 12:10 a.m. Saturday when he was struck by a westbound vehicle driven by Courtney Payne, 23, of Poplar Bluff. McCollom was pronounced dead at the scene by Assistant Stoddard County Coroner Aaron Mathis at 2:10 a.m.

The death brings the fatality toll in the Troop E area to 26 for the year.

A teen was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 10:15 p.m. Friday on Route B, two miles north of Pascola.
