Robert "Snooks" Leonard McCoy

Robert "Snooks" Leonard McCoy, age 88, went to be with his Lord, Monday, April 11, 2016. He was born January 3, 1928 in Hornbeak, Tennessee. His parents were Robert Lacy McCoy and Maggie Wood (Kirk) McCoy.

On July 5, 1949 in Piggott, Arkansas he married his beloved wife Lottie (Sullenger) McCoy. He was a farmer and landowner in New Madrid County Missouri. Robert was a veteran serving in the 8th army of the United States Army, where he served during World War II in Japan. During his army career he was a golden gloves boxer and received several medals. He was a member of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his beloved wife Lottie McCoy; his son, Tommy McCoy and wife Cathy of Catron; his daughter, Darla Brands and husband Jeff of New Madrid; Two grandsons, Tommy McCoy II and Terry McCoy both of St. Louis; two granddaughters, Amber Karr and husband Kyle of Elm Springs, Arkansas and Kelsie Brands of New Madrid; two great-grandchildren, Kaylin and Jackson McCoy of Festus, MO with Amber expecting a new great-granddaughter in September of this year.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Eugene "Jinx" McCoy, Alvin McCoy, Ted McCoy, Jack McCoy, and William Wesley "Gabe" McCoy; and two sisters, Dathel Davidson and Sally Simmons.

Services were conducted Saturday, April 11, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church in Marston, MO with the Rev. Manley Webb officiating. Interment followed at the Portageville Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Danny Hayes, Derrick Hayes, Adam Hayes, Robert Hayes, Mike Prince, and Jamie Franks.
