SIKESTON -- Fire marshals give the thumbs up to fireworks stands, and with the Fourth of July just around the corner, what better way to get a show than to paint the sky with a bright, smokey fireworks entertainment from our local fireworks stands.

Stands are strung all along East Malone near Lambert's Cafe and one located at West Main directly in front of Three Rivers College.

"We have over 220 items in stock," said Caroline May from May Brothers Fireworks.

It's an elongated tent with more than enough merchandise to peruse, so much, that it usually takes couple days just to set up, she said.

"We sell lots of kid items," she added. The most popular being the sizzle, crackle and pop from bottle rockets, firecrackers, smoke bombs, Roman candles and artillery shells.

"Artillery shells are most popular with adults, too," May noted.
