SIKESTON - A search is underway for a missing Kansas man, who was last seen at a Sikeston motel.

Authorities are searching for Larry Weaver, 66, of Pittsburg, Kan. According to a family member, Weaver was traveling on his black 2013 Harley Davidson Street Glide motorcycle.

At approximately 6 a.m. Tuesday, staff at the Days Inn on South Main in Sikeston contacted the Sikeston Department of Public Safety when they discovered Weaver had not checked out of the hotel on time.

According to Capt. Jim McMillen, DPS public information officer, when the cleaning crew entered the room they discovered some property belonging to the missing man still in the room. However, Weaver and his vehicle could not be located.

"Mr. Weaver left several personal items in the room that led police to believe something was wrong. Some of the items include his wallet, credit cards, some keys, cellphone, clothing and riding gear," McMillen reported. "At present police are unsure if Mr. Weaver had some sort of medical event, an unobserved motorcycle wreck or even possibly a victim of foul play."

DPS is seeking the public's help in locating Weaver.

He is described as 5-feet, 10-inches tall and weighing 185 pounds. His black 2013 Harley Davidson Street Glide motorcycle has Kansas license plates: "36A0Y" and hard saddle bags

Anyone with information about Weaver or his vehicle is asked to contact Sikeston DPS at 573-471-4711.
