SIKESTON -- A Sikeston man is in jail facing child enticement and molestation charges after an incident in July.

According to a release from Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter, Daniel D. Roland, 51, is charged with felony enticement of a child and attempted child molestation.

The incident took place July 18 when investigators received a call from the Missouri Children's Division who said Roland attempted to kiss a female juvenile in her "private" area. Roland told the juvenile that it would not hurt if he kissed her "down there." The juvenile called an adult and left Roland's location.

Roland was interviewed by detectives and he told them he was "very lonely" and that he cannot take back what he said to the juvenile.

Roland was arrested and transported to the Scott County Jail where he remains in custody on a $50,000 cash or surety bond and not allowed to have contact with minors.
