Convicted felon jailed for being in possession of a firearm

CHARLESTON, Mo. - A convicted felon was arrested after he was seen with a gun during a domestic dispute.

The Mississippi County Sheriff's Department was alerted of a domestic dispute in progress by tree trimming workers, who stated they heard yelling from a trailer and observed a female running from a residence chased by a man.

According to Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore, the workers said the man caught the woman then dragged her back to the trailer.

"The workers said the whole time the female was yelling to leave her alone, at this time the workers started to walk toward the female to help," Moore said in a news release.

The man then went into the trailer and exited with a rifle, Moore reported, prompting the workers to call the sheriff's

The suspect, Joshua Davidson, who is a convicted felon, was placed under arrest. Davidson told Captain Ken Story he was just putting the rifle in his vehicle and also stated he only argued with his girlfriend but never put his hands on her.

Davidson is charged with unlawful possession of a fire arm and third degree domestic assault. He was released after posting bond of $25,000.
