Miner voters re-elect Griggs as police chief; Self is elected to Sikeston City Council

BENTON, Mo. -- Voters in the city of Miner have chosen to keep the same chief of police for the next four years.

Miner's current Police Chief Christopher Griggs defeated his challenger, James Buckley, in a vote of 163 to 89 during Tuesday's municipal election.

Also, in Miner, in the race for Ward I Board of Alderman, voters selected Timothy Jackson, 88 votes over Paul Luber, who received 36 votes. Renee Clark, 84 votes, defeated Billy McIntosh, 28 votes, in their bid for Ward II alderman.

In the city of Sikeston, voters opted for Brian Self, 1,626 votes, over John Graham, 391 votes, to fill the three-year term of councilman at-large. Self also received 267 votes and Graham had 68 votes in New Madrid County for a total of 1,893 to 459.

In the race for Scott County Rural Fire District, voters selected Michael Hargrove over Shane Washburn to fill the six-year term. The vote was 225 to 173.

Vanduser residents chose Michael W. Hargrove, 31 votes, Myra Hargrove Lancaster, 26 votes, and Jim Murphree, 28 votes, to serve two-year terms on the Board of Trustees. They defeated Robert Verble, 23 votes, and RC Roger Casey, 11 votes.

In the race for Chaffee Board of Alderman, Leah Warner narrowly defeated Darlene Crocker in the Ward I race in a vote of 27 to 24. In Ward II, Jerry A. Childers defeated Jason Davis, 32 to 16. Ward IV voters chose Eric Seyer, 63 votes, over Garrett W. Warren, 26 votes. Running unopposed in Ward III was Alana Cook, who netted 71 votes.

Running unopposed in the city of Benton were: Beverly Riley, collector, 89 votes; Howard Bollinger, alderman Ward I, 23 votes; and David Mack, alderman Ward II, 61 votes.

Unopposed in their bids for Oran Board of Alderman were: Glen Bivens, Ward I, 37 votes; Danny Forehand, Ward II, 77 votes; Jimmy Westrich, Ward III, 45 votes; and Karen L. LeGrand, Ward IV, 26 votes.

In Blodgett, Ruby Ann Hurst, 40 votes, and Jon C. Pierce, 26 votes, were unopposed in their bids for the two, two-terms for board of alderman.

In the only contested race in Ward III for Scott City Council, voters chose Gary Spinks over Donna McGregor in a vote of 39 to 30.

Running unopposed for Scott City Council were Mike Ellison, Ward I, 31 votes; Dennis "Pat" Brazel, Ward II, 20 votes; and Randy Morse, Ward IV, 19 votes.

Linda Williams, 33 votes, and Earl Baker, 26 votes, were unopposed in their bids for the two, two-year terms on the Haywood City Board of Trustees.

Bruce Beggs, 19 votes, Andy Beussink, 16 votes, and Donald K. Reinagel, 17 votes, were also unopposed in their bids for the three, two-terms for Kelso Board of Trustees.
