Sikeston man jailed; 21 pounds of marijuana seized

SIKESTON -- A Sikeston man faces drug trafficking charges after police seized 21 pounds of marijuana, 10 ounces of cocaine and a pound of methamphetamine Thursday in Sikeston.

Marcus Jamal Turk, 32, is charged with three counts of first degree drug trafficking, unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia through Scott County Circuit Court.

According to Sgt. Jon Broom, public information with Sikeston Department of Public Safety, on Thursday, Sikeston DPS narcotics detectives, the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force served a search warrant in the 100 Block Kate in Sikeston.

"During the search of the residence, we located approximately 21 pounds of marijuana, 9.5 ounces of cocaine and just over a pound of methamphetamine. We also located several sets of digital scales and three firearms," Broom said.

Bond for Turk was set at $200,000, and he remained in the Scott County Jail.

"Sikeston DPS continues its working relationship with the DEA and the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force to rid our streets of illegal drugs," Broom said.
