City insurance discussed at Council meeting

Wednesday, February 21, 2018

In January, Mark Gibbins with Ellington Insurance Agency presented the Board ofAldermen with an alternative to their current insurance with MOPERM. EMC provides municipality insurance and appeared to be approximately $15,000.00 less than the policy with MOPERM that the city recently renewed. Gibbins stated that if you leave MOPERM there is a clause that states that you cannot return to MOPERM for a two-year period. Discussion followed. Alderman Berry requested that the issue be tabled until mid-month so that Mark Gibbins would be able to compare the new EMC policy to the current MOPERM policy in detail to guarantee we are getting the same coverage. Mayor McCrate tabled the issue until the mid-month meeting. Gibbins also stated that he is working on the adjustment of the city's Earthquake Insurance policy. He should have that ready within the week.
