VACAVILLE, Calif. -- David Duane Stanfill, 68, passed away July 19, 2016, at his home in Vacaville with his loving wife, Jackie, by his side following several years' struggle with Alzheimer's disease and lung cancer.

Born Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 1948, at Saint Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo., to the late Homer Dewey "Stan" and Lillian Lucille Tudor Stanfill. He was born en route from French Lick, Ind., to Oran, Mo., for his father's transfer with Texas Eastern Gas Transmission Corp. Excepting two years living with maternal grandparents, Carl and Hettie West in Lakewood, Ill., during his mother's terminal cancer, he lived in Oran and Charleston, Mo., graduating from Charleston High School in June 1967.

He attended Draughons Business College in Memphis, Tenn., prior to enlisting in the US Air Force in 1969. He served active duty tours at Travis AFB, Calif., and Udorn AB, Thailand during the Vietnam era. Following eight years active duty, Duane transferred to the AF Reserve, retiring as master sergeant in 1991.

In 1988 he left the DOD and began his career as an avionics inspector with the FAA. He retired from Federal Service in 2005 after 35 years federal service. During his federal service, he traveled to Thailand, New Zealand, Australia, England, Bermuda, Ireland, Iceland, Canada, and extensively domestically in relation to his work.

He married Jacqueline (Jackie) Ann Botnik on May 5, 1990, in Hawthorne, Calif. It will always be known that he was the love of her life and best friend He was a man of great honor, deep respect and endless kindness.

Surviving are: his wife, Jackie; one brother, H. Dale (Gale) Stanfill of Wake Forest, N.C.; sister-in-law, Ann Oliver of Charleston; and their three dogs, Spider, Rumor and Raven and two cats, Gracie and Sophie.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother Homer D. and Lillian Lucille Tudor Stanfill; one brother and wife, William A (Carole) Stanfill; stepmother, Ola Tanner Stanfill; and stepbrother, David Oliver.

Cremation service was performed by the McCune Funeral Home of Vacaville.
