Ida Cowell

VINE GROVE, Ky. - Ida D. Cowell, 77, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died April 5, 2017, at Signature Health Care in Radcliff, Ky.

Born Dec. 14, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Reed and Virginia Daugherty. A 1958 graduate of Sikeston Senior High School, she was class vice president, a Red Pepper, senior cheerleader and member of numerous other clubs.

She attended Barnes School of Nursing in St. Louis. She worked in pediatrics at Ferguson Medical Group in Sikeston as a nurse for Dr. Joseph Blanton for 20 years.

On Dec. 26, 1962, she married Lewis Cowell, who preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 2008.

She is survived by three daughters, Judith Ann Roberts (Jim McCabe) of Vine Grove, Ky., Susan Amanda Price (Gregg) of Sikeston and Mary Kathryn Henson (Jerome) also of Sikeston; and five grandchildren, Amanda Elizabeth Roberts, BSN, Austin Dean Roberts (Navy), Matthew Thomas Price (Air Force), Kathryn Elizabeth Price and Hayden Wayne Erhlick.

She is also survived by one brother, Jim Bob Daugherty of Cape Girardeau, and one sister, Margaret Hagy (Donald) of Sikeston.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Daugherty of St. Louis.

Ida is also survived by a sister-in-law, Wanda Moore, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on Friday, April 21, 2017, at 9 a.m. at the St. Francis Xavier Parish Center. A funeral Mass will be held following the reception at 11 a.m. with Father Alexander officiating.
