CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Dortha Marion Halter, 95, died June 25, 2017, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee.

Born March 3, 1922, in Perkins, to the late James and Clara Phillips Shoemaker, she was a homemaker and member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran.

On Feb. 19, 1944, she married Cleophas "Lefty" Halter, who preceded her in death on March 20, 2009.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Dennis Wagoner of Chaffee; a brother, Tommy Shoemaker of Perkins; a sister Mary "Betty" West of Troy; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Martha Keen, Rose Anders and Lillian Marie Merrick; and two brothers, James Shoemaker and Arvil "Bill" Shoemaker.

Visitation is after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Kenneth Shoemaker assisted by the Rev. Phil Thompson.

Burial will be at Williams Cemetery in Perkins.
