EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Gary Guerra, 65, formerly of Charleston, Mo., died Jan. 5, 2018, at Rosewood Care Center in Edwardsville.

Born Nov. 24, 1952, in Cairo, son of the late Dr. Renatto F. "Doc" and Rosemary Moore Guerra. A 1971 graduate of Charleston High School, he received a Bachelor of Science from Southeast Missouri State University. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston and was a former Knight of Columbus. In 2008, he moved to St. Louis, Mo., then to Edwardsville.

Survivors include: one sister and brother-in-law, Dianne and Bill Toon of Glen Carbon; two nephews and one niece; Jason Toon of Bannockburn, Kara Wagner and Eric Toon of Collinsville; one aunt, Virginia Moore of Baldwin City, Kan.; and several great-nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary Ann Guerra.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Thursday at St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston, where a funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. David Dohogne serving as Celebrant.

Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
