POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Arthur "Art" Dykes Jr., 55, died Feb. 2, 2017, at St. Louis University Medical Center in St. Louis.

Born June 29, 1961, in Wichita, Kan., son of the late Arthur LeRoy Sr. and Ethel Fay Buffington Dykes, he had lived in Poplar Bluff since the 1990s and was a diesel mechanic and had worked at Duckett Truck Center in Poplar Bluff. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

On Sept. 4, 1995, in Poplar Bluff, he married Norma Smith, who survives of Poplar Bluff.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Emily Dykes of Poplar Bluff; four sons, Arthur L. Dykes V, Joseph Dykes and Noah Dykes of Poplar Bluff and Michael Hatcher of Highland Heights, Ky.; one sister, Teresa Froese of Kan.; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Burial will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.
