Investigation uncovers narcotics and paraphernalia
EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. - An East Prairie man is facing felony drug charges following an investigation by the Mississippi County Sheriff's Office.
Harold Shawn Matheney, 39, is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and the misdemeanor of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
According to Mississippi County Sheriff Cory Hutcheson, Deputy Britton Ferrell was dispatched to serve a protection order at a rural East Prairie residence, where he made contact with Matheney. When Ferrell learned Matheney had an active warrant for probation violation in connection with resisting arrest, Matheney was taken into custody and transported to the Mississippi County Detention Center.
During a subsequent interview by Sgt. Ryan Hill, deputies obtained consent to search Matheney's residence. During that search, various narcotics and drug paraphernalia were located, Hutcheson said in a news release.
Matheney remains in the Mississippi County Detention Center with bond set at $20,000. According to online court records, he is scheduled to be arraigned on the drug charges at 9:15 a.m. Jan. 11 before Associate Judge S. Rob Barker.
