‘Buddy’ Dunn

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. - William Clay “Buddy” Dunn, 90, of East Prairie, Missouri, died May 26, 2018, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri.

He was born September 19, 1927, at Dorena, Missouri, to the late Everett and Alta Voner Dunn.

He was an army Sergeant and served his country during the Korean War. He also owned and operated his farm and previously owned, Dunn’s Texaco Station in East Prairie, Missouri.  He was a Deacon in the First Baptist Church of East Prairie for 48 years.  He served his church family with conviction and dedication. Buddy was the epitome of an honorable gentleman. 

On July 15, 1949, he married Claudia Laverne True, who survives of the home. 

Buddy is survived by two daughters, Claudia Dunn-Williams of East Prairie, Missouri, Marla C. Hawes (Myron) of Sikeston, Missouri; one sister Dorothy Hall (Gene) of East Prairie, Missouri; one sister-in law, Carolyn Dunn of East Prairie, Missouri; one brother-in law, Lewis Jones of East Prairie, Missouri. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jerry D. Williams II of Horn Lake, Mississippi, Brent Williams of East Prairie, Missouri, Emma Hawes of Nashville, Tennessee, Madeline Hawes of Memphis, Tennessee, and Clay Hawes of Sikeston, Missouri.  He is also survived by three great grandsons, Connor Williams, Jacob Williams, and Weston Williams, all of East Prairie, Missouri.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Frankie Jones, Nora Moore, and Lucy Dunn (who died in infancy); one brother, Billy Earnest Dunn; one brother-in law, Jim Moore, and one son-in law, Jerry Don Williams. 

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, Missouri. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at the First Baptist Church of East Prairie, with Bro. George White officiating.

Interment will follow with full military honors at the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home. 

Pallbearers will be Brent Williams, Benji Brown, Ronnie Hall, Lee Dunn, Billy Dunn, and Clay Hawes.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Haines, J.W. Grogan, McIvan Jones, Claud Thomure, Frank Long, Richard Sutton, and Brad Brewer. 

Two special honorary pallbearers will be Connor Williams and Jacob Williams.
