SIKESTON — Josephine Ray, 83, formerly of Bell City, died March 13, 2019, at Clearview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sikeston.

Born Jan. 25, 1936,  in Dorena, daughter of the late Joe 'Jack" Henry Ray and Katie Mae Ray, she was of the Baptist belief. She attended Pilgrims Rest Church in Bell City. She worked at the Oran Hat Factory in Oran for several years.

In 1954, she married Manuel Wiley Sr., who preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by five brothers,  John Ray, Carl Ray, James Ray, Chester Ray and Joe Ray Jr.;  two sisters, Georgetta Ray and Minnie Baylock; and four grandchildren.

Survivors include: six sons, Alvester Johnson and Manuel (Cynthia) Wiley Jr. of Sikeston, Hershel Wiley of Cape Girardeau,  Jerry Wiley of Minneapolis, Minn., Rodney Wiley and Charles Wiley of Kansas City, Kan.; five daughters, Juanita (James) Bailey of Memphis, Tenn.,  Pamela Wiley, Phyllis Wiley,  Regina (Ron) Hicks and Evonda Wiley of Sikeston; one brother, Sylvester Ray of Sikeston; two sisters, Olivia Moore and Glendora Ray of Chicago; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time at noon Thursday at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Sikeston with Dr. Elisha Pullen officiating.

Burial will follow in J.C. Pullen Memorial Garden at Bell City with the Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston in charge of arrangements.
