CHARLESTON, Mo. — Stella Marie McDermott, 71, died June 25, 2019, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Oct. 27, 1947, in Charleston, daughter of the late Earl Wesley Sindle and Esther Lillian Johnson Sindle, she had lived in Charleston her entire life and was a graduate of Charleston High School. She had worked as a cook most of her life in the Charleston area, retiring from Southeast Correctional Center. She was a member of Cornerstone Church in Bertrand.
On Feb. 3, 1967, she married James Edward McDermott, who preceded her in death on March 5, 2010.
Survivors include: two sons, Wesley (Amanda) McDermott of Charleston and David (Bethany) McDermott; two sisters, Jane Sisk of Tucson, Ariz., and Elsie Gross of Grassy; and five grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Earl Sindle.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Friday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Larry Kirby will officiate. Eddie Grooms will offer a eulogy.
Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: Cole McDermott, Evan Ebert, Iric Farmer, James Williams, Anthony Moody and Charlie Kuykendall.
