FARMINGTON, Mo. — Billy M. Dickerson, 94, died Aug. 17, 2019, at Farmington. He was born at Winnfield, La., a son of Hannah (Porter) and Olan Dickerson. He married Frankie Ann Allen on Dec. 16, 1945.

Billy, a World War II veteran, was a member of the “greatest generation,” as he enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1963. During his Navy career he was assigned to Naval Aviation on carriers and was also stationed in Kodiak, Alaska; Pensacola, Fla.; Providence, R.I.; San Diego; Honolulu, Hawaii; and Memphis, Tenn. After his retirement from the Navy, the family lived in Sikeston, where he worked for 20 years as a vocational electronics instructor for the Sikeston Public School system. Billy’s hobbies were hunting and fishing, especially at his beloved Saline Lake in Winn Parish.

Billy’s wife, Frankie, predeceased her husband of 67 years in 2013. He is survived by a daughter, Dianne Dickerson, Farmington; a son Bill W. Dickerson and his wife Juliet, Prairie Village, Kan.; and the following grandchildren: Alison Sheets (Wayne) of Farmington; Sally Dickerson of Brooklyn, New York; Shannon Davis (Mike) of Sikeston; and Blake Dickerson (Erin) of Kansas City.
