Three arrested in Morley on drug, stealing charges

BENTON, Mo. — Three Morley residents face drug and stealing charges following an investigation Wednesday in Scott County.

Jackquelynn L. “Jackie” Abernathy, 21, is charged with the Class D Felony of burglary, the Class A misdemeanor of receiving stolen property and the Class D misdemeanor of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Charles J. Wells, 40, is charged with the Class D felony of burglary and the Class A misdemeanor of stealing.

Jamie L. Abernathy, 47, is charged charged with the Class D felony of possession of controlled substance, the Class A misdemeanor of stealing and the Class D misdemeanor of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Scott County Sheriff Wes Drury said detectives and deputies with Scott County Sheriff’s Office along with the Morley Police Department executed on Wednesday three search warrants in Morley. Several items reported missing in local burglaries were located within the residence, he said. Also located inside one of the residences was 3 grams of methamphetamine and some paraphernalia, the sheriff said.

Jamie Abernathy’s bond was set by the court at $5,000 cash or surety. Jackie Abernathy’s and Wells’ bonds were set by the court at $20,000 cash or surety for each.

As of Thursday, all three remained in custody at the Scott County Jail.
