James Brase

SIKESTON — James Louis Brase, age 92, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2020, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born March 14, 1928, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, he was the son of the late Martin and Edna Brase.

He was a member of Tanner Street Church of God since 1950, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and had worked for Reiss Dairy, Dale Vendors, and for the United States Postal Service in Sikeston for 31 years before retiring.

On April 5, 1949, at Cape Girardeau, Missouri, he married Loretta Maxine LaRue Brase, who preceded him in death Jan. 31, 2020.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald L. Brase; one sister, Betty Jean Brase; one daughter, Patti Sue Brase; and three grandsons, Jacob Brase, Jordan Lucy, and Griffin Brase.

Survivors include: four sons, Steven (Pam) Brase of Essex, Missouri, Terry (Sheila) Brase of Sikeston, Richard (Rhonda) Brase and Scott Brase all of Bloomfield, Missouri; one daughter, Deena (Douglas) Lucy of Albany, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Todd Lloyd, Joshua Brase, Benjamin Brase, Kathryn Carter, Tara Lucy, Blake Lucy, Allison Adams, and Bennett Brase; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 21 from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. Georg Karl and the Rev. Douglas Lucy will officiate.

Burial with full military honors will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
