Farmers to Families food boxes to be distributed at DAEOC Head Starts
PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. - DAEOC, in partnership with SEMO Food Bank, will begin distributing emergency food boxes through the Farmers to Families Food Box Program at four Head Start and Early Head Start locations in Pemiscot and Dunklin Counties. This program has been created as a solution to the nation’s struggling supply chain that has been disrupted by the COVID-19 Crisis, leaving America’s farmers with surplus products and America’s families in desperate need of nutritious food.
Starting at noon Friday, interested families can receive food boxes on a bi-weekly basis at the following locations:
Hayti Head Start/Early Head Start, 310 S Pemiscot St, Hayti, MO 63851
Caruthersville Head Start, 710 E 18th St, Caruthersville, MO 63830
Starting at May May 29, food boxes will be distributed on a bi-weekly basis at these locations:
Senath Head Start/Early Head Start, 206 E Hornbeck, Senath, MO 63876
Kennett Head Start, 1100 Homecrest, Kennett, MO 63857
The food boxes, which will contain a variety of produce, are limited in quantity and will be distributed to families on a first-come, first-serve basis. This program is open to all residents, regardless of income, and no identification is required. In the interest of safety and social distancing guidelines, DAEOC will follow a “no touch” distribution procedure. Food boxes will be placed directly into a vehicle’s trunk or truck bed.
