YMCA will begin Phase II of reopening on Monday

SIKESTON — On Monday, Phase II of the YMCA of Southeast Missouri reopening will begin.

Many of the current restrictions will still be in place, but several guidelines have been loosened.

The north half of the gymnasium can now be used for pickleball from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (one court only) and a limited number of group exercise classes.

Parent and youth swims will now be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Youth under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Lap and fitness swims are available for up to 10 people during all pool hours except during parent/youth swims or day camp swims, at which time there will be a limit of six people.

Child watch and youth gym will be open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon and from 4-7 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. until noon. Parents must sign in children and remain in the facility.

Other guidelines that will continue are:

• Reduced hours of operation: Monday-Friday 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday 7-11 a.m.; closed Sundays

• Controlled access only using the main entrance

• Social distancing as much as possible

• Youth under the age of 16 not allowed without direct supervision of an adult

• Members wash or sanitize hands before and after using the facilities. Extra sanitation stations available.

• No guests allowed so space is maximized for members

• Fitness Center limited to 35 people and is set up to assist members with social distancing.

• No towel service. Members are asked to bring their own towel.

• South half of gymnasium used for additional exercise equipment with limit of 10 people.

• Track limited to 20 people, including cardio equipment.

• Family changing rooms open for one person at a time or individuals from the same family.

• Locker rooms open but no showers.

Other areas of the facility or programs that will be closed are:

• Aerobic, Multi-purpose and spin room

• No community swims

• No water exercise classes

• Community room

• No basketball

• Lobby and pool viewing area

• Sauna

Any changes will be communicated through email, social media and the YMCA website.
