Two more deaths reported in area as number of positive cases climb

Two more deaths have been reported in Southeast Missouri related to COVID-19.

The Stoddard County Public Health Center reported their seventh death related to COVID-19 and their first death outside of the outbreak at Crowley Ridge Nursing Center.

There are currently 110 positive cases in Stoddard County with 37 of those active and 66 that have recovered.

On Wednesday, the Pemiscot County Health Center reported their sixth death due to COVID-19. No name or further information was given about the individual. There are currently 99 positive cases in Pemiscot County with nine of those active. One is hospitalized with 84 released from isolation.

The Scott County Health Department reported an additional two positive COVID-19 cases Thursday afternoon, giving the county 128 positive cases with 32 of those active. There have been 11 deaths and 85 recovered. Of the two new cases, one was between the ages of 20-29 and the other between the ages of 40-49.

The New Madrid County Health Department is reporting six new cases since Tuesday, giving New Madrid County 29 total cases. Of those, seven are active with 21 released from isolation.

The Mississippi County Health Department has reported an increase of two cases since Tuesday afternoon, giving the county 68 positive cases with 21 in the general community and another 47 inmates at the Southeast Correctional Center in Charleston. According to the Missouri Department of Corrections, another staff member at SECC has tested positive, making 20 staff members who have contracted the virus.

The Mississippi County Health Department is finalizing plans to have a drive-thru testing event from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 18 at the Opportunity Outreach Center in Charleston. The event will be for Mississippi County residents.

The Dunklin County Health Department last reported 52 positive COVID-19 cases with 17 of those active. There have been 32 recoveries and three deaths in Dunklin County.

The Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center reported six new confirmed positive cases, giving the county 96 positive cases.

There were 203 new positive cases across Missouri and 12 additional death reported by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. To date there have been 15,390 positive COVID-19 cases with 860 deaths.
