Cyril Dwane Crafton
JOPLIN, Mo. — Cyril Dwane Crafton, 86, formerly of Marshall, Mo., died June 25, 2020, at Westgate of Wildwood Ranch in Joplin.
Born March 12, 1934, in Hayti, Mo., son of the late Hugh Crafton and Pauline Adams Crafton, he was raised in Pemiscot County and was a 1952 graduate of Wardell High School in Wardell, Mo. He worked in the newspaper industry for many years at the Lorain Journal in Lorain, Ohio, as well as the Marshall Democrat-News, and as a custodian for the Higginsville Habilitation Center. He attended the Assembly of God Church.
On Oct. 9, 1954, he married Cecile Naomi Bivins who preceded him in death on June 15, 2006.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Mark Crafton; and a daughter-in-law, Bridget Crafton.
Survivors include: four children: Sheila Jo Countryman (Chris), Michael Crafton (Denise), David Crafton and Tammy Trelow (David); a daughter-in-law, Xaio Crafton; seven siblings. Rowena Benson, Wilma Baker, Dwanda Myers, Edmond Crafton, Terrell Crafton, Sharon Patterson and Roger Crafton; and 21 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with Chaplain Callie Crafton and William W. Harlow officiating. Social distancing will be observed at all services and wearing a mask is strongly encouraged.
Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
