Active COVID-19 cases decreasing in some local counties

Most local counties are seeing the number of active cases decrease despite reporting additional cases over the weekend, while one additional death has been reported in the area.

The Scott County Health Department reported 14 new cases of the coronavirus, with 13 reported on Monday and one new positive reported on Saturday. The number of active cases decreased by 17, making 61 positive cases late Monday afternoon with 13 deaths.

The Mississippi County Health Department reported four additional positive cases in the last 72 hours, taking the county from 85 to 89 in the general population since the pandemic began.

The number of active cases decreased from seven to six with 129 out of isolation.

According to the Missouri Department of Corrections, there is one active case remaining among the 20 staff members who have tested positive and one inmate case is still active among the 47 inmates that tested positive.

The New Madrid County Health Department reported their second death related to coronavirus Monday, with 22 new positive cases. As of late Monday afternoon there were 53 active cases.

The Stoddard County Public Health Center reported four fewer active cases Monday afternoon, along with seven new cases, five over the weekend and two on Monday. To date the county has had 209 positive cases with 20 active. There have been nine deaths related to the virus.

The Dunklin County Health Department reported eight additional coronavirus cases but 18 fewer active cases Monday. The county has had 233 confirmed cases since March but now has 43 active cases, down from 61 on Friday.

According to the Pemiscot County Health Center Monday afternoon, there are 30 active cases in the county and 216 positive cases since the pandemic began. There have also been 1,492 negative tests since the pandemic began.

There were 95 active cases in Cape Girardeau County Monday, down 38 from the previous day. There have been 584 confirmed positive cases with 45 probable since the pandemic began in March.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported 1,047 new cases in the last 24 hours Monday afternoon with two additional deaths. To date, Missouri has had 52,887 confirmed cases with 1,255 deaths.
