George DeRousse

PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. — George Adolph DeRousse, 89, died Aug. 4, 2020, at Tishomingo Manor in Iuka, Mississippi.

Born Dec. 30, 1930, in Pemiscot County, Missouri, son of the late Thelma Ethel Pigg DeRousse and Ollie DeRousse, he was a member of the Hayward Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.

On Feb. 10, 1952, in Osceola, Arkansas, he married Lillian Peggy Cook, who preceded him in death on Feb. 4, 2015.

He was also preceded in deeath by one daughter, Theresa Eastburn; two brothers, Burnie DeRousse and Wilburn DeRousse; one sister, Margie Simmons; and one grandchild.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, George DeWayne and Linda DeRousse of Middleton, Tennessee; two daughters and on son-in-law, Chery and Denver Roberts of Booneville, Mississippi, and Karen DeRousse of Lilbourn, Missouri; two sisters, Margaret Phillips and Mary Ada Daugherty of Portageville; one brother, James DeRousse of Portageville; and eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Saturday at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville with the Rev. George DeRousse officiating.

Burial with full military rites will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
