CANALOU, Mo. — Tressie Bernice Barnes, 91, died Sept. 19, 2020, at Miner Nursing Center.

Born Oct. 19, 1928, in Searcy County, Arkansas, daughter of the late Charles Edward and Leonna Watts Bohannon, she was a member of Big Ridge Baptist Church and had been a housekeeper at Sells Rest Home.

On Feb. 19, 1949, at Piggott, Arkansas, she married Paul E. Barnes Sr. who preceded her in death in 2000.

Survivors include: three sons and two daughters-in-law, Paul E. Barnes Jr. of Canalou, Ron and Mary Barnes and Don and Marilyn Barnes of Sikeston; and 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Tressie Drew; one brother, Jake Bohannon; four sisters, Beulah Griffin, Dale Oliver, Jula May Latham and Velma Sanders; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Paul E. Barnes III, Andy Barnes, Gregg Barnes, Nick Barnes, Aaron Barnes and Chris Barnes.
