Three virus deaths reported in area; active cases decrease in Scott County

Three additional deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported by local health departments since Tuesday.

Two deaths were reported in Cape Girardeau County and the other was reported in Scott County.

The Scott County Health Department reported 21 new cases Tuesday and 12 on Wednesday but also reported 22 recoveries Tuesday and 31 on Wednesday. Currently, there are 126 active cases in Scott County with 790 recoveries and 17 deaths.

The New Madrid County Health Department reported two new cases on Tuesday and 15 on Wednesday, giving the county 45 active cases. There are 501 residents out of quarantine and there has been 15 deaths attributed to coronavirus.

In Stoddard County, eight new cases were reported on Tuesday and 18 on Wednesday. To date, there is 107 active cases with 477 recoveries and 18 deaths.

The Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center reported 45 new cases on Tuesday and 36 on Wednesday. There are 506 active cases in the county with 1,454 recoveries and 28 deaths.

Pemiscot County reported 12 new cases Tuesday and seven on Wednesday, with 61 active cases and four hospitalizations. There has been 12 deaths reported in the county.

No updated statistics were reported in Mississippi County or Dunklin County as of 10 a.m. Thursday.
