Scott County with 776 active cases of COVID-19

SIKESTON — Scott County reported 86 new positive COVID-19 cases on Tuesday while 128 have recovered since Friday.

According to the Scott County Health Department, there has been 147 new cases since Friday, with 17 reported Saturday, 18 reported Sunday, 26 on Monday and 86 on Tuesday.

Currently there are 776 active cases in Scott County with 1,788 recovered and 40 deaths.

The Stoddard County Public Health Center reported 29 new cases Tuesday, leaving the county with 329 active cases. There have been 37 deaths since March and 1,671 have recovered.

The Cape Girardeau Public Health Center reported four additional deaths on Tuesday and a drop in active cases.

One death was a person in their 50s while another was in their 60s and two in their 70s. The deaths make 67 in the county since the pandemic began.

There are currently 1,380 active cases in the county with 2,850 having recovered.

The Pemiscot County Health Center reports 68 active cases with 12 of those hospitalized. There have been 21 deaths reported since March with 1,103 released from isolation.

The Dunklin County Health Department reported 92 active cases Tuesday with 1,944 recovered and 12 deaths.

Mississippi County and New Madrid County Health Departments had not reported any updated numbers as of Wednesday morning.

With an influx of cases, local health departments are advising there will be a delay in completing case investigations and are asking that residents be patient.

Residents are also reminded to wear a mask, social distance, wash their hands, don’t touch their faces and increase sanitizing frequently-touched surfaces.

Those who are sick are asked to stay home from work and if positive for COVID-19, isolate from others. Those in close contact to someone who is positive are asked to quarantine for 14 days.
