UPDATED: List created for those in Scott County wanting COVID-19 vaccine as Missouri activates Phase 1B of vaccine plan

Thursday, January 14, 2021

On Thursday, Missouri Gov. Mike Parson activated Phase 1B of the state’s vaccine distribution plan while local health departments are making a plan to get the vaccine administered to the local community.

Federal partners have informed the state they plan to significantly increase vaccine supply next week and that individuals 65 and older and those with comorbidities should be prioritized. The news allows the state to begin the process of activating Phase 1B tiers.

The Scott County Health Department is working in conjunction with Missouri Delta Medical Center to get the vaccine administered to the community.

“We do not currently have a date when the COVID-19 vaccine will be available to the general public,” the health department said in a statement. “We are creating a list of individuals wanting to get the vaccine.”

Those who are wanting the vaccine when it is available to them are asked to fill out the form at https://www.scottcountyhealth.com/covid-waiting-list.php to be added to the COVID-19 vaccine waiting list.

Those who are on the waiting list, will be contacted when there is a vaccine dose available for them.

Currently, the health department is working on Phase 1A per state guidance. Phase 1A includes the following individuals: Healthcare workers, long-term care residents and staff, home health, home care, hospice and dialysis center staff, vaccinator staff and those administering COVID testing, adult day care staff and residents, and all remaining patient-facing healthcare providers, including but not limited to healthcare workers in emergency shelters, dental offices, school nurses, pharmacies, public health clinics, mental/behavioral health providers and correctional settings.

The Pemiscot County Health Center released a statement that MDMC would be distributing the vaccine to any Missouri resident who falls under Phase 1A and has missed an opportunity to get the vaccine.

Phase 1B will be for high-risk populations, essential workers and first-responders.

For Phase 1B, high-risk populations are defined as those at increased risk for severe COVID-19 illness, including those 65 years of age or older, may receive priority: BMI greater than 30, chronic kidney disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, hypertension and chronic heart disease.

Phase 2 is populations at increased risk, which includes prisoners, homeless, etc. and then Phase 3 is all Missouri residents.

Besides Scott County, Cape Girardeau County and Dunklin County also have lists where those interested in the vaccine can sign up. The New Madrid County Health Department will administer the vaccine when they receive a supply by appointments only. They will update their Facebook page and web site when they do receive the vaccine for people to then start setting appointments.

As of Jan. 11, nearly 9 million people in the U.S. had received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Missourians began receiving first doses of COVID-19 vaccines last month. More than 160,000 individuals have received an initial dose, and more than 22,000 have now been fully vaccinated with the 2-dose series. Vaccine supply continues to be the rate-limiting factor for vaccine administration throughout the state. State vaccine allocations are determined by Operation Warp Speed.
