EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. — The 15th annual East Prairie Elementary (Doyle) blood drive took place Feb. 1-2 with 201 donors giving the gift of life despite sickness and an ice storm. Of those, 185 donations were considered productive and on the way to save 555 lives.

Each pint-sized hero who found at least one donor received a beaded necklace per donor sponsored by Beauton’s and a medal and bracelet from the Red Cross. Beauton’s sponsored the trophies with first place going to Camrynn Arington and Cady Arington for securing 17 donors; second place went to Cotton Day with 11 donors; and Cortland Emerson earned third place with six donors.

Pizza parties were sponsored by Bain Auto Sales with Leslie Allgier’s prekindergarten class winning the prekindergarten/kindergarten contest with 18 donors; Hunter Thurmond’s second grade class winning the first-second grade division with 31 donors; and Amber Eakens’ fourth grade class winning the third-fourth grade division with 28 donors.

Earning second place with 11 donors was fourth grader Cotton Day.
