Anita McKinnie
SIKESTON — Anita McKinnie, age 88, passed away on Jan. 30, 2023, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born on March 19, 1934, in Bridges, Missouri, to the late Ulus and Stella McKinley Harper.
On Oct. 18, 1953, in Bement, Missouri, at Bement Baptist Church, she married Lynn McKinnie who preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 2021.
She was a member of Bement Baptist Church in Bement. She was co-owner of McKinnie Bestway with her husband Lynn before retiring in 2009.
Survivors include” one son, Terry (Karen) McKinnie of Sikeston; two granddaughters, Mitzi (Kelly) Laymon and Brooke McKinnie all of Sikeston; four great-grandchildren, Kyler Laymon, Mason Laymon, Logan Laymon and Colton Lynn Arnold; four sisters, Betty Holland of Bertrand, Missouri, Geraldine (Lan) Coots of Bertrand, Joan (Bill) Bacchus of Sikeston and Janet (Glenn) Hatley of Sikeston.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Harper; two sisters, Paula Harper and Virginia Learue; two brothers-in-law, Bill White and Jerry Holland.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at noon at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston with Brother Darrin Hensley, Pastor of Bement Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston, Missouri.
Pallbearers will be: Rowland McKinnie, Kevin White, Kelly Laymon, Kyler Laymon, Mason Laymon and Donnie Ward.
Honorary pallbearers will be James McKinnie and Logan Laymon.
