Cavs win lottery. Where does Bubba land?

I'm saying Cavs take Noel and Wizards take Otto. I feel like the consensus is that if you can get an athletic game changing center you should get one so Clevland will. Orlando will take a guard who can score like McLemore and that leaves the Wizards with a big spot open at the 3 and the perfect guy you went to school across town who could fill it

I am hoping he goes to the wizards. With Wall and Beal as guards, they look to have a very good future.

I think he goes to the Wizards, and I believe he will be a great fit there. The Cavs will either take Noel or trade the No. 1 pick.

The Cavs need someone like Noel.. They would be crazy not to pick him first. The kid is special on the defensive side. I look for Otto to get taken between 3-5. McLemore will most likely get picked #2. I think Otto is the more well rounded player in the draft and should adapt easily to the NBA. Can't wait to see where he lands

I agree Cheese, they would be crazy! (but Gilbert is a little crazy haha). Some see Burke going #2, but I just don't think their GM would go with him, I see them taking McLemore as well, he prolly has the highest ceiling of anyone, and the Magic could use a good shooting guard. The Wizards would be foolish to pass on hometown Porter, it would be a great marketing tool as well as fill a need they have. I see Burke going to the Pelicans.

The thing about Otto is I wouldn't be surprised if any team chose him in the top three. His game is so well-rounded that they all could use his services.

What was intriguing to me is that the Cavs have him at the top of their draft board. I'm like most of you and think the Wizards will be taking him at three. With John Wall at the 1 and Missouri native Beal at the 2, Porter would fit in very nicely.

The cabs use a lot of recent lottery picks on post played and Varejeo was hurt last year and will be back and is a good defender.. Noel makes no sense in my opinion.

Not really, Kyrie Erving and Waiters are theyre too most recent big picks and they are both guards. Zeller is their only notable post pick, and he is not athletic at all. Varejeo and Noel are two completely different players. Varejeo is a rebounder and not a shot blocker. The Cavaliers were also almost dead last in steals last year. Noel ranked No.1 big man last year in steals and like top 10 in all of college basketball and No. 1 in shot blocking. So they couldn't be any different. and your right Varejeo is very injury prone. I think its a perfect fit myself.

More steals Otto or Noel? Otto.. and the cavs used the 4th pick 2 or 3 years ago on Tristan Thompson a PF.

Otto averaged 1.8 steals per game last year, and that was with two years of experience. Otto had 57 steals last year in 1,097 minutes played. Noel averaged 2.1 steals per game his freshman year and had 50 steals only playing 765 minutes cause he missed like the last 7 games. He was on pace to have way more steals than Otto. Noel had 106 blocks and Otto had 28, and Noel missed 7 games. He averaged 4.4 blocks per game, Otto didn't even average 1 block. Noel is a better stealer than Otto, and thats not a negative to Otto, because Otto is better offensively. Otto is a great defender, but to think that he is a better rebounder, stealer, or shot blocker than Noel is just silly. Thompson doesn't even average 1 block or 1 steal per game. His height and wing span is much smaller than Noels, so he is a completely different post player as well. The Cavaliers have no one like Noel, he would be a great fit in my opinion.

Nerlens Noel has not chance of reaching Ben Wallace status. Mainly because his body will never see 240lbs.

Yes I agree with that. Won't have the body, yet, I mean he is just 19. But he will have Ben Wallace skill set and maybe even better at steals. This year is a weak draft, yes I would take Ben Wallace No. 1 overall. So I would take Noel No.1. Is it a weak number 1!? Sure! But that's just how the cards fall, this is like the 2000 draft.

And Noel hasn't been able to any big strengths training exercises yet, just conditioning. During the season he was in the 220's, that'll be his playing weight.

My honest opinion on the matter is this. I would pick Otto over Noel. Why? In today's NBA, it's all about run n gun offense. Teams rarely even play defense like they used to. Successful people in today's NBA are offensive minded players. The thing about Otto, that kid can play in ANY offense you put him in, but he will be suited better with a fast pace team. Noel isn't much on offense and he still has a huge question mark about is he durable enough. We know what Otto brings to the table on both sides of the ball and mentally. Too many question marks for Noel IMO.. But, can't blame them IF they pick him #1 either. The top 5 could go either way imo.

And Ben Wallace was an NBA Champion, 4x NBA All-Star, 4x NBA Defensive Player of the Year, 2x NBA Rebounding Champion, 1 NBA Blocks Champion and made the NBA All-Defensive Team 6 times. For 2 consecitive seasons he lead the NBA in Blocks and Rebounds the first person to do so since Olajuwon. He even was on the cover of ESPN 2K5. Not to shabby.

Noel would be more like Dennis Rodman than Ben Wallace.

I just really hope Otto goes to the Wizards I guess. I think him, Wall, and Beal would make an awesome trio. He is a fan favorite already in Washington. I like the Wizards coach much better than Mike Brown, or whoever the Cavs decide to have next year. Also ownership is way better in WAshington. Dan Gillbert is a goof ball, I don't really want to see Otto play for him. I also make a lot of trips to D.C., so I could go watch him play haha! Don't make to many trips to Cleveland thankfully.

The Noel/ Ben Wallace comp is sorta unfair and not realistic. Noel is going to be such a different player than what Wallace was. Noel will be a gem defensively no matter what and if he can't develop into at least a Roy Hibbert offensively I would be shocked.

haha I couldn't ever get into the Live until a little bit later on. I still remember trying to go into a store around Christmas time to get the NBA 2K3 with Allen Iverson on the cover for a present and the store worker laughed at me because it was so hard to find. If you think today's NBA plays no defense then you haven't been watching the playoffs. Take a gander at the Grizzlies-Spurs series. Those teams flat get after it. And I guarantee you the Heat and Pacers will lock up in some defensive battles too.

I was an NBA Live guy forever until NBA2K11 with the first Jordan game. The NBA Live franchise has been shelved since then, but I wouldn't go back anyway. NBA2K is da bomb.

Your right on that semo. Funny how all four teams left in the playoffs are all at the top as far as defense. I agree the NBA is set up to be an offensive game but when it comes to winning championships most of the time it's the defense that wins it. But the NBA really sucks these days between the players crying about every call and floping all the time. That's why i don't even watch very many games until the playoffs start.

Never said they didn't play defense. I said teams rarely play defense like they used to. Sure, some teams play pretty good defense: Spurs, Grizzles, Heat, Pacers, and Bulls, but it's not very many compared to how it used to be. I'm just not big on the NBA now days. Too many drama queens and cry babies. I guess that's how it goes when you are over-paid and catered too like these players are now.

I agree somewhat Bunk. I'm sure all players once they reach the NBA, are treated a little better. I guess it's just more noticeable today since social media has become a big part of it. Even 10 years ago, it wasn't that bad, or so it seemed, because there wasn't twitter and social media didn't arrive like it is today. I stick by saying the players are way over-paid. 100Mil to play ANY sport is ridiculous IMO.

Dennis Rodman is one of the greatest power forwards in the history of basketball. 6-6, 220lbs, undersized against everybody he faced. Ben Wallace was real good in his prime, but Rodman was great for an extended period of time.

Ben Wallace was a supreme defender in his prime. As good as anyone in the league. Wallace was putrid offensively. I think he shot something in the neighborhood of 40% from the free throw line. Often times he would be doing well to hit the rim. But he was the defensive anchor on that Pistons team that won the NBA championship in 2004. Nerlens Noel will have to put on 40lbs, to become that kind of defender, otherwise, he'll only be a shot blocker.

If Noel were guaranteed to be a player of Ben Wallace's caliber, even for just a 5-year stretch, I think ANYBODY would take that in a heartbeat.

Personally, I don't think they were very similar other than shot blocking.

My argument is that because Noel has height but not weight like Wallace had that he is primed to be the Ben Wallace of the new NBA landscape were speed is valued over being big enough to bash. You look at guys like Hibbert who last night was left off the floor because he is slow and can't rotate to mid range without opening himself to get blown by due to his size. If George Paul doesn't STAND BESIDE LEBRON in a two point game the Pacers win and the size isn't needed. Being 240+ is way overrated today by lots of folks

I don't disagree with that Bunk. Although I think its just a matter of time before Noel will be about 230 or 240 himself. Even Durant, as "skinny" as he is, weighs close to 230. I think these guys need to be careful about bulking up too much. It takes away that speed and quickness. That's what made Jordan so effective. Not bulk, but incredible speed and quickness for his size.

I think someone who is 7 ft only really needs to be at the 225-230 range to be effective. Once guys start getting into the 250s they become a liability in transition and a possible liability in the rotation aspect of the half court obviously guys like LeBron who I think is 260 can handle that weight due to their unreal althleticism but the taller Centers can't necessarily be expected to be able to keep up with that coordination.

I just find it to be really interesting that for the first time in pro ball size can be actually viewed as a detriment if utilized in the traditional sense which makes for great style clashes like that Pacers- Heat matchup last night.

The pro game has evolved somewhat. I touched on this on another blog, but the time of the dominant center has passed. Now you see more and more "small" lineups like the Heat and with that, they create so many mismatches. That's what led to the game-winning shot last night. Indy was afraid of Hibbert being matched up with the smaller, quicker Bosh and it resulted in taking out their best defender and rim protector.

The thing is despite Vogel getting smashed in the media last night and this morning no one acknowledges that he made the right move. If George plays average defense on that play and forces LeBron to shoot a contested 15-17 ft jump shot that is the ideal situation instead of him scoring. It's George broke the cardinal rule of defense that you learn in the YMCA youth leagues which is always be between your guy and the basket.

Noel weighed in at 206 at the combine. Post players like Noah, Lopez, Gasol, Bynum, Hibbert, West, ect will push him around like the little school girl he is. Whammmyy!!!!

I think he will put on ten pounds and friggin fly around most if those guys. Lopez? He doesn't even play good man to man defense and he doesn't rebound since he is also very skinny.

He also just came off of surgery and hasn't been able to train at all. Come on guys, his playing weight this year was 228. If he weighted 228 just coming off of surgery something is going wrong. Calipari just said today that they are trying to get him to 240 and I think that will be his weight in the NBA. He just turned 19! Still plenty of time to bulk up. People are running way to far with this 206 thing. Noah weights 232.

And he comes from an athletic family, His oldest brother plays for the Seahawks and his other brother plays college football, he just has to have some time to bulk up, his brothers are.

I just don't see the necessity in a big guy getting any heavier than 245 in today's NBA it just hurts you more than helps you deal with the speed

I know your being sarcastic about that last part but in all honesty that is the truth. Besides Marc Gasol and Zbo, whose entire team is built around them, who out of these guys is leading their team to a conference final this year? Or last year? The NBA is changing to a small ball league run by overgrown 3 guards who can play the 1,2,4 as well as the traditional 3 spot. The truth is that if it wasn't for a Carmelo shoulder tear, Westbrook tearing his ACL, and Paul George than none of these bigs even sniff the conference finals.

1. A Melo team has never played in the conference finals.

2. Thunder lost because they got manhandled in the paint, not sure how much Westbrook could have done to prevent that.

3. The Thunder and Heat are the only two teams to have real success without a great post player and it's because they have 2 freaks on their teams.
