The Guessing Game with SCC numbers
We're nearly there. I promise.
The anticipation of the upcoming fall season is simply eating away at you I'm sure. The Squirrels of the Charleston variety are the only thing going as of late and I'm sure we're all itching to get to a football game or two soon. But, as it stands, we still have three weeks of nothingness. This will not do.
So to help cure your boredom, I've devised a bit of (hopeful) fun.
If you're anything like me, you love stats. I've been doing a lot of research lately on Scott County Central basketball and their all-time numbers as far as points go. Scott Central handed out an all-time list that was inside their game programs a few years back, but I found the numbers stopped after the 2008 season. Which means Otto Porter, Jr. was never mentioned in the book. So, naturally, I was curious.
I took to the task of rounding up his official scoring totals. Thankfully, I was successful. Now, before I go blabbing about this number and that number, I thought it would be fair of me to the wonderful folks at Scott County Central that I don't ruin the news about just how many points Porter scored. I'll let them unveil the number during the floor dedication and jersey retirement going on August 16 and 17.
So for a bit of fun, I thought it would be a grand test of the superb minds of the dedicated high school basketball fiends of the area to see if they can figure out where Otto Porter, Jr., ranks among the all-time greats at SCC as far as points scored.
Did he surpass his father? Where does Marcus Timmons rank? Heck, let's see if anyone can guess the top five? They don't necessarily have to be in order. But if you want to take a stab at it, be my guest.
Let's try and keep this as fair as possible and only go by what you may think. NOT a guesstimation based on a 'quick look' at the aforementioned program that you tucked away in that closet you never look in anymore.
Happy guessing!
