Media Football Pick 'Em -- Week 9
The last week of the regular season is here. Boy, that didn't last long. Seems like only yesterday we were previewing teams and gearing up for Week 1.
Anywho, the last week will be a doozie. There are tons of games with playoff implications, especially in Class 2, District 1.
Here's what I'm talking about.
Class 2, District 1
1. Malden (8-0) 50.59
2. East Prairie (6-2) 37.00
3. Caruthersville (5-3) 36.47
4. Portageville (5-3) 36.28
5. Hayti (3-5) 28.35
6. Scott City (3-5) 27.94
7. Kelly (3-5) 25.77
8. Charleston (0-8) 17.36
Obviously Malden has secured that No. 1 spot but the 2-4 spots could be shaken dramatically when Friday night is over with. East Prairie, C'ville and P'ville don't want to be that odd man out at that four-spot so they'll all be rooting against each other -- in a friendly manner, of course -- with Portageville rooting the hardest. Although the Bulldogs will more than likely stay behind EP do to their head-to-head battle a few weeks ago.
Just .72 points separate the three and they're all playing teams that are one notch above them in classification. They all win, or lose for that matter, standings stay the same. If you're any of those three teams, you want the two or three ranking with a shot at Malden in the championship looming ahead.
I've included the rest of our district standings below for your entertainment and if you wish to hear a more in-depth take on this week's matchups as well as a little baseball talk, click here for the newest episode of The Last Word.
We will continue our Pick 'Em until the end of districts so we have three more weeks of picks to go. Maybe I can climb out of the cellar by then.
