I have been with the Standard Democrat sports department since 2007. I took over as sports editor in May of 2011 and have been slightly crazy about sports since I can remember. I attended Southeast Missouri State University and Scott County Central High School. I co-created our sports web show "The Last Word" and my two children, Elijah and CJ. I was married to my wife, Angie, in May of 2014. I love to golf, I am an avid NBA2K gamer and root for the Fighting Irish on Saturdays.

I will be posting live updates from the Sikeston Field House of the entire Class 4, District 1 tournament starting today at 4 p.m. We will also have photo galleries, box scores and stories from each game posted online as soon as possible. Be sure to join in on the conversation and let me know if any additional info from the tournament is wanted.

No. 4 Cape Central defeats No. 5 Kennett 58-33. Kennett finishes the year with a 12-13 record. Cape Central (9-17) moves on to play No. 1 Dexter tomorrow at 6 p.m. in the semifinals.

A lot of it has to do with that, but ND looks better than when I saw them at Sikeston earlier this year. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they give Sikeston a bit more of a scare than anyone might think. Notre Dame tends to do that around this time of the year.

No. 3 Notre Dame defeats No. 6 Perryville 68-24. Notre Dame (8-16) will take on No. 2 Sikeston for the third time this season Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the semifinals. Perryville ends the season at 8-17.

No. 3 Sikeston defeats No. 6 Dexter 76-50. Sikeston will advance to play Cape Central for the third time this season on Thursday during the semifinals at 7:30 p.m.

Dexter finishes the season 9-18 in Josh Dowdy's first year at Dexter.

It doesn't look good for sure. My guess would be to push it back a day and play the championships on Saturday. I'll try to find out tonight.

Top-seeded Dexter and No. 4 Cape Central are about 15 minutes away from tipoff in the girls semifinal.

Found out the contingency plan IF winter weather derails the tournament. If play is postponed one day, the boys semifinal will be played Friday and the championships moved to Saturday. No times yet for Saturday. If it's two days, the championships will be played Monday.

This is only the second time Sikeston will play in a district title game. First time was in 2002.

Looks like every school involved with the Class 3 sectional games Wednesday night have cancelled school tomorrow except for NMCC according to KFVS. That includes Dexter, so I would say the chances of the games being played are pretty close to zero.

Glad to see a young ND squad hang tough and give themselves a chance. I'm rooting for Sikeston from here on out. Can't help but like what Matt Schonhoff is doing with that program.
