Fire Safety Week observed

The Fire Division of the Sikeston Department of Public Safety is visiting schools throughout the community this week to teach students the importance of fire safety. Tuesday officers went to Southeast Missouri State University's Sikeston campus to make a presentation to preschoolers.

Youngsters at the Southeast Missouri State University's Sikeston campus Child Development Center were visited by members of the Sikeston Department of Public Safety's fire division Tuesday as part of National Fire Prevention Week. James Whitley, DPS officer, showed the youngsters the various pieces of equipment used to put out fires. Also the children viewed a video on fire safety basics and received information to share with their families. Here, Adaleigh Morrissette and Tina Buell, lead toddler teacher, watch as Whitley hands the nozzle to a preschool student.
