Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, for Matthews Assistant Fire Chief Todd Hartlein. Hartlein died Aug. 24 after having worked an accident scene earlier. To honor his service, Gov. Jay Nixon ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff. Also area law enforcement and emergency personnel joined in honoring the officer.
