A large crowd of family and friends joined members of the New Madrid County Central High School Class of 2023 for the Awards Ceremony on May 15. Numerous scholarships and academic awards were presented during the event.

Grissom also was named the New Madrid County Central High School's Senior Male Athlete of the Year and received the Jim Harris Technical Scholarship at the NMCC Senior Awards Ceremony on May 15.

New Madrid County Central High School senior Sawyer McElveen, second from the left, is pictured with the family of Datrae Hicks. In addition to receiving the Datrae Hicks Memorial Scholarship, McElveen was presented with the Community Teachers Association Scholarship, Associated Electric Cooperative Scholarship, the Dr. Pat Scholarship, New Madrid Masonic Lodge Scholarship, the Betty Joyce and Jim Dambach Scholarship and NMCC Alumni Scholarship.
