New Madrid County Central Honors Program

A large crowd of family and friends joined members of the New Madrid County Central High School Class of 2023 for the Awards Ceremony on May 15. Numerous scholarships and academic awards were presented during the event.

In addition to scholarships, a number of classroom awards were presented during the New Madrid County Central High School's Awards Ceremony on May 15. Drew Howell, left, and Emery Palmer, center, were the recipients of the AP Human Geography award which was presented by Jared Shackelford, right.

Bailee Jackson, left, and Chris Espinoza received the Matthews Big Prairie Jaycees Scholarships at the New Madrid County Central High School's Senior Awards Ceremony on May 15.

Donnie Brown, the father of the late Jane Annemarie Brown, presented scholarships in his daugher's memory to Emma Wescoat, left, and Emery Palmer during the Senior Awards Ceremony on May 15.

Chris Grissom holds the certificate showing him as the recipient of the William Vest Riley Scholarship which recognizes a senior who excells in athletics. Grissom also was named the New Madrid County Central High School's Senior Male Athlete of the Year and received the Jim Harris Technical Scholarship at the NMCC Senior Awards Ceremony on May 15.

New Madrid County Central High School senior Sawyer McElveen, second from the left, is pictured with the family of Datrae Hicks. In addition to receiving the Datrae Hicks Memorial Scholarship, McElveen was presented with the Community Teachers Association Scholarship, Associated Electric Cooperative Scholarship, the Dr. Pat Scholarship, New Madrid Masonic Lodge Scholarship, the Betty Joyce and Jim Dambach Scholarship and NMCC Alumni Scholarship.

Four scholarships were presented by the family of the late Gavin Long to members of the New Madrid County Central High School Class of 2023 at the Senior Awards Ceremony on May 5. Long was a member of the NMCC Class of 2023.

The Harryette J. Campbell Scholarship is awarded annually to graduating New Madrid County Central High School seniors who are residents of Lilbourn. This year's recipients are, from left: Macy McCanless, Justin Morris, Noah Taylor, Carly Kimball and Gabby Perkins.

The Hope Exchange Scholarship was awarded to, from left: Clay Cope, Noah Taylor, Trustin Polk, Evie Hunter, Kayleigh Austin and Carly Kimball. The scholarship honors those who have had a family member's life impacted by cancer.

The New Madrid County Central High School's Scholars Athlete of the Year is Levie Sutton.
