Classes began Monday, Aug. 21, for students across New Madrid County. Here are a few scenes from New Madrid Elementary's first day of school.

It was a busy morning on Monday, Aug. 21, as classes got underway for the 2023-24 school year at New Madrid Elementary. Families began arriving before 7:30 a.m. to help students find their classrooms for the coming year. (Jill Bock/Standard Democrat)
