Portageville Bulldogs defeat county foe Eagles

In the annual bout between the Portageville Bulldogs and the New Madrid County Central Eagles, fans were not disappointed. The Bulldogs dug their way for a 54-48 victory.

Prior to the basketball match-up Friday, Portageville High School recognized the 2009 State Basketball Champions! Those that were were in the gym were asked to center court for recognition. The team included: Bryon Wright, Bruce Mathis, Royden Booker, Dometric Treadwell, Donnell Minnis, D.J. Birdwell, A.J. Brown, Fred Treadwell, Caden Robbins, Fernando Minnis, Isaac Ray, and Jake Young. The head coach was Jim Bidewell, and assisted by Ron Riddle and Jason Irby.

A.J. Hicks, a PHS Junior aided the Bulldogs in a huge way in the last quarter aiding the team for the win. He clipped in two three-pointers in the final frame.
