CHARLESTON, Mo. - Two persons are facing charges following a shooting that injured a sheriff's deputy and a suspect in a narcotics investigation. Johnathan Lee Jones, 36, of Wyatt, is charged with first degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. I'm not sure how today's column will end. Heck, I'm not even certain how to start. The future of our proud community has been on my mind lately - more than usual. In the past couple of years, Sikeston has seen some substantial growth in terms of building permits and job creation...

DEXTER, Mo. - Linda Elizabeth Sligar Parker, born on Dec. 14, 1923, in Bertrand, Mo., to James L. and Mary Alice (Jackson) Sligar, died at the age of 93 on March 8, 2017, at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, due to Alzheimer's disease. Linda attended grade school in Bertrand and was a 1942 graduate of Diehlstadt High School. ...

Members of the Sikeston Junior High Chamber Choir sing Feb. 28 at the Dexter Choral Festival at Dexter Middle School.
