  • Free speech beach ball creates a frenzy at SIU-E (Column ~ 09/30/17)
    A group of conservative students began bouncing a beach ball across campus and encouraging fellow students to write messages on the ball to express their First Amendment thoughts. It's a tactic that has been used elsewhere to highlight the importance of free speech and the freedoms of this great nation. But leftist students at dear ol' SIU-Edwardsville, called the police to say the beach ball was "freaking them out" and they were scared at the sight of the roaming beach ball bounding across the campus. Police were called, school administrators were pulled into the kerfuffle and the Great Beach Ball Caper was a hot topic for a while.
