It’s that time of year again when Sikeston will take on a look of the old west with people adorning cowboy hats and cowboy boots. The influx of cowboy hats can only mean one thing — the rodeo is in town. Personally I’m not a fan of the sport. The idea of trying to wrestle a calf to the ground or watching someone ride a horse around a bunch of barrels doesn’t excite me. But everyone who lives in Sikeston knows the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo is much more than just a rodeo...

The Republicans have opened their headquarters already on one of our main streets. Where is the Democratic headquarters? Or have all of the Democrats, who are closet Republicans, decided to do what they did in the last election, and just say nothing. Do nothing. Make sure that Trump got elected by their silence. I heard years ago all these landowning Democrats here in Southeast Missouri are really closet Republicans.
