Violet Cox
BLOOMFIELD - Violet Geraldine Cox, 65, died March 29, 2008, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born March 12, 1943, at Lilbourn, to the late William Riley and Sara Perryman Cox, she was a former captain and deputy sheriff in the Riverside County, Calif. Sheriff's Department. A member of the board of directors of the AIDS task force group and a member of the Domestic Violence Association both in Manitowac, Wis., she was also a member of the Wife and Child Abuse Center in Boise, Idaho, the Private Investigators Association and the National Police Chiefs Association and was of the Baptist belief.
Survivors include: longtime companion, Marvis Vondracheck of Blakely, Ga.; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Danial Linsmire of Manitowac; two foster sons, Justin Degonia of Sikeston and Todd Harrison Duncan of Palm Springs, Calif.; foster daughter, Erin Margaret Duncan of Palm Springs; one sister, Verna Romine of Mesquite, Texas; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Cox.
Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with John Martin officiating.
Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
